About Lowcals

At Lowcals, we’re all about good food, local products and treating people the way we’d want to be treated. Our family opened the store in January 2024 because we felt this part of Beaufort needed a welcoming place where you could grab a fresh meal, pick up a few essentials and meet our staff who are excited to serve you.

The building itself already had a long history of serving the neighborhood and we wanted to honor that. So, we brought it back to life, adding a full kitchen on one side and refreshing the general store on the other. The result is a comfortable space where folks can enjoy the simple things: a great meal, a quick snack or a fun local find you’ve been looking for.

We’re especially proud of our Barbecue! It’s slow-smoked, made in-house and full of flavor. But we also know everyone likes options, so you’ll find plenty of lighter, fresh choices like smoothies and acai bowls. Whether you’re craving hearty or healthy, we’ve got something that will hit the spot.

And while the food is a big part of what we do, it’s not the only thing that matters to us. We’re here to help people feel welcome. No self-checkout. No cold customer service. Just honest conversation, quick assistance and the kind of hospitality that the Lowcountry is known for.

Supporting local is important to us as well. Many of the items in our store come from nearby makers, small businesses and local hands. It’s all part of staying connected to the community; a reminder of why we named ourselves Lowcals in the first place: Lowcountry Locals.
